Yep, good advice from eddie there.

Then when you've been about a bit, you get to the situation where you have to assess each job/film on these criteria:

    1. Am I getting paid
    2. Will I learn anything
    3. Is gonna be fun

All 3 is very uncommon. 2 out of 3 and it's still a definite goer. Only 1 out of 3 ... think hard before committing!

I have to say, 2 & 3 have been very popular with me!

Forget about your GCSE, they don't count for shit. They are just a stepping stone to better things, but they are not the only stepping stone. If you really want to go into film then I would consider doing a vocational course (GNVQ, BND etc) because they CAN sometime be more relivent than A-Levels to film making.

I have to totally agree with the last post (2 out of 3 part).
I worked for a TV company for over a year as a volunteer.
I was NOT getting paid, but I enjoyed myself (most of the time), and I learned a hellava lot!

If you get your foor in the door somewhere, make sure that you give the door a good, hard shove.

    I did, and I haven't looked back.

Over the past two years, I wrote, shot, edited a DV feature, and recently completed a "How-To" (VHS) which covers Mini-DV Camcorders and NLE Editing. Take a look at www.dvmoviemaking.com when you get a minute. Also have some articles on "the making of" running on Cyber Film School. You can access them from this URL -- http://206.186.223.112/articles/saylor_01.htm Good luck with it, S.S.
